We started our day with bagels from the Bagel Barrel in town. It is the place for a good bagel. Crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. MmMmMm. I <3 their salt bagels because when toasted with butter they taste just like a Philly soft pretzel.
To start he had a drink called The Holy Spirit and I had a Heat of Passion. Think of it as a a spicy margarita. The spice in the drink is Habanero Syrup. MmMm. This drink was exploding with flavor, and probably one of the most creative and robust drinks I've ever had.
At Honey they aim to please, part of this mantra includes a taster plate of one menu item. Last night the chef selected a Porcini- Parmesan Risotto Cake. Holy deliciousness! The cake was creamy with just the right amount of crunch from the coated, toasted exterior.
We also enjoyed the Chicken Flatbread during this round that had house smoked Amish chicken, dried figs, melted leeks, Buffalo Mozzarella, Manchego cheese all with a Sherry reduction. This was just the right balance of smoky and sweet from the buffalo mozarella and sherry reduction.
The third course was Potato Crusted Crab Cakes with roasted red pepper, preserved fennel, Marcona almonds, kalamata olives, all sitting in a Piquillo pepper puree. This was not my favorite course. As a matter of fact, I had one bite and that was it. It tasted too fishy to me, but the BF loved it.
Course Four: Lamb and Escargot Skewers - Lamb tenderloion and Burgundy Snails, Cremini Mushrooms, wrapped in Applewood Bacon with Sweet Garlic Aioli for dipping.
This course was tremendous! The Lamb was tender and not even slightly gamey. The escargot were tender and perfectly marinated. The BF was equally pleased and had the opportunity to try snails for the first time. He was pleasantly surprised :)
The final course was the best course by far! I am not one to usually order pork in a restaurant, however the description (including ginger icecream) caught the BF's attention.
Black Tea Glazed Spare Ribs - Twice Cooked Berkshire Pork Spare Ribs, topped with Pine Nuts, Toasted Sesame accompanied by Spicy Ginger Ice Cream.
